Can we replace only one faulty UPS battery pack?

When one battery in the UPS battery pack fails, it is not recommended to replace it separately. It is necessary to determine whether to replace it as a whole based on the specific situation.

A、 Principle for replacing faulty batteries:

If the entire battery pack has been used for 3-5 years and is approaching the end of its lifespan, replacing a new battery separately will result in a mismatch between the performance of the old and new batteries, which may accelerate the aging of the new battery or cause voltage imbalance within the pack, affecting the overall lifespan.

1. Applicable scenarios:

If the overall condition of the battery pack is good (with short usage time and no obvious aging of other batteries), the faulty battery can be replaced separately, but it is necessary to ensure that the new battery has the same model and capacity as the original pack, and strictly test the voltage balance.  ‌

2. Risk Warning:

Voltage difference: Differences in internal resistance or capacity between new and old batteries may cause voltage fluctuations within the group, affecting UPS stability.  ‌

Safety hazard: If the faulty battery has abnormalities such as bulging or leakage, the entire set needs to be replaced immediately to avoid secondary damage.

3. Maintenance suggestions:

Regular testing: Measure the voltage of a single section every quarter (normal value 13.5-14V), and promptly handle any abnormalities found.  ‌
